Position Title: Project Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Operations

Compensation & Time Commitment: ($55,000-$60,000) annually DOE + generous benefits package. Full time, Term Position: ASAP – March 31, 2022, with possibility of extension.

Summary: The primary role of the project coordinator will be to assist in implementing the Seal River Watershed Indigenous Protected Area Initiative (SRWIPAI) workplan for the Seal River Watershed Alliance (Alliance). They will assist the Director of Operations in planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting on the objectives of the Initiative. They will also be a keystone in implementing Community Engagement Strategies. They will be an important point of contact for employees, consultants, and partners. There will be a particular focus on working closely with Community Representatives throughout multiple remote communities.

Basic Requirements:

  • Work from home – must have a reliable computer, phone, and internet. Some home office equipment may be provided, and/or reimbursements may be applicable.
  • Ability to travel throughout Manitoba and Nunavut
  • Valid Manitoba drivers license

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in a related field, three years of experience in Project Coordination and one year experience in Community Engagement. A combination of education and experience is acceptable if it relates to the essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Excellent, multitasking, communication, and networking skills;
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills;
  • Strong supervisory experience;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Strong verbal and presentation skills;
  • Working knowledge of Indigenous protected and conserved areas;
  • Working knowledge of Indigenous approaches, methods and practices;
  • Working knowledge of living and working in remote communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership in a Seal River Watershed Alliance Community;
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural setting;
  • Small business management experience.

Your employment is subject to the following terms:

  • You will be employed 40 hrs/week, Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:00pm;
  • Occasional overtime, evening, and weekend work will be required;
  • You will be based out of your home office;
  • Your compensation will be $55,000 to 60,0000 a year, plus a generous benefits package;
  • You will report to the Director of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Seal River Watershed IPAI schedules and timelines to support the workplan and help to ensure the initiative is advancing on schedule.
  • Collaborate to define tasks and required resources to advance the initiative.
  • Work with staff, contractors, and partners to help ensure tasks are accomplished and the project is advancing on schedule.
  • Provide regular updates to the project team and partners which track progress, identify potential challenges and opportunities, and help to ensure the initiative is advancing on schedule.
  • Assist with budgeting and help ensure expenses comply with funding rules and accounting practices.
  • Assist with project reporting to funders.
  • Continue to build and maintain a strong network of support among Alliance Communities.
  • Maintain Community Engagement records and files.
  • Plan regular meetings and community updates with remote staff (currently via phone, Zoom, Facebook only due to Covid).
  • Develop short term workplans and activity budgets with remote staff.
  • Assist remote staff in coordinating activities and logistics.
  • Assist remote staff in reporting activities and expenses.
  • Assist in coordinating community meetings and travel within Manitoba and Nunavut, when Covid-19 restrictions allow.
  • Take photos, write blogs and social media posts.
  • Support broader Alliance work.
  • Represent SRWA in an informed and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
